| The Southern Washlands Nature Corridor comprises a series of countryside sites less than a mile from Wakefield's city centre, from Stanley Ferry Flash, through Parkhill and the Southern Washlands Nature Reserve, to Half Moon and the Ashfields. The different areas are linked by the River Calder and the Aire and Calder Navigation, and display a wide variety of habitats, from open water and marsh, to grassland, scrub and woodland.
